A fire pit and patio makes its way to a family in Massapequa.
For our 2015 Welcome Home project, we undertook a huge renovation of a Massapequa family's backyard that had been devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The backyard was in near-total disrepair when our team began, but we were able to present this wonderful family with an entirely new outdoor living space, anchored by an expansive paver patio with a firepit and seating wall. One of the final touches of this Long Island landscape design makeover was a pear tree, inspired by the pear tree near Ground Zero that survived the 9/11 attacks and stands as a symbol of hope at the memorial—where this homeowner, a retired NYPD officer, now works as a security officer.
